Wanaka Lakeside – Intimate Mountain Weddings

For those wanting a more simple ceremony setting but loads of natural beauty, the Wanaka lakeside has endless options for a sweet ground wedding. As council land, it is a public space and while we can help organise a permit, recreational users are still allowed to make use of the wider space. For this reason, we would recommend considering a midweek wedding date, as weekends at the lake or river-side campgrounds tend to be busier. To keep in the natural setting, archways, confetti and other items aren’t permitted and there is a maximum of 8x ceremony chairs allowed. Some spots that we love are Dublin Bay, Beacon Point, Glendhu Bay and the Clutha River.

Note: There is no indoor venue here, so it would be sensible to book accommodation with a lovely view/balcony/lounge as a backup option. A lot of our couples suck it up and embrace stormy conditions, but it is still a good idea…just in case! 

For a mountain adventure, we would recommend a location such as Alta Lakes, Coromandel Peak, Lookout Hill or Twin Peaks.
