The lovely Heather & Meghan travelled over from North Carolina for their elopement wedding in Queenstown. Being avid travellers, New Zealand had been on their bucket-list for years so after deciding that they would love an intimate wedding just for them, a Mountain Wedding in Queenstown was the perfect choice. Tacking on a multi-week road trip around our beautiful country was just another bonus for the newly-weds!
The pair were staying in accommodation down by Closeburn, which gave us the opportunity to head out to Bennetts Bluff. The lookout to Glenorchy has gorgeous mountain vistas and shows off the colour of the lake so well! Plus, we were due to be landing at The Humboldts after the ceremony, so it was pretty cool to point out the actual mountain before we flew there.
After some fun stops around by the lake, we headed to our helicopter check-in. The West Coast was clagged in with cloud so we changed course and flew in to Earnslaw Burn. With the waterfalls cascading around us and the glacier towering above, it was just as magical. What a place to be married! Philippa designed a lovely ceremony and not before long, we were climbing hills, jumping streams and celebrating officially being wives!
Next, we headed to The Humboldts for a second landing. The light was bursting just at the crest of the mountain, which made for some beautiful light. The glacial snow had been slowly melting and creating mermaid-like pools of water that were perfect for some striking reflection shots. We finished up the amazing afternoon down by the lake near sunset, cheers-ing to Heather & Meghan’s beautiful future together!
