Carmen and Claire decided on a Queenstown elopement after a life spent living in and exploring different countries around the world. To them, with New Zealand being “unnecessarily stunning” (we totally agree!) paired with the simplicity of getting married and understanding that love is love, plus we the fact that we are home to the All Blacks… it was a done deal. We loved their spontaneity and excitement and with the mission of choosing the most “autumnal” mountain location in Queenstown, we happily zeroed in on Big Geordie with its gorgeous long grasses plus epic 360 degree views! So less than five weeks since their first enquiry and in the middle of working in Hong Long and moving to the USA, Carmen and Claire were on a mountaintop in Queenstown ready to get married!
With a late afternoon flight, we stopped at a few sweet locations around the lakefront on the way to the helicopters. Being April and big autumn lovers, we headed to a beautiful grove of trees that we love to visit in April as the leaves turn. Up at Big Geordie itself, we had a bit of a brisk wind but nothing was going to stop Carmen and Claire having the time of their life! Donning blankets and jackets just for a couple of minutes in between running around the mountain, you couldn’t even guess that it was cold! We had such a brilliant afternoon and the diversity of Big Geordie gave us a handful of totally insane views in every direction.
